The story

Partner. You moved a tab into its own window. Dedicated space for a dedicated task.

Cache runs a system, not a pile, no matter how the junkyard looks from the outside. Some items belong grouped together. Others belong somewhere separate, in their own corner, where they will not get lost in the general noise. Knowing which is which is basic Stash management.

You just made that same call with a tab. Maybe it was a video call that needed to stay visible while you worked in another window. Maybe it was a document you wanted open side by side with your research instead of buried in a row of a dozen other tabs. Whatever the reason, you pulled it out and gave it its own space.

Cache logs this as a positive behavioral indicator, which is his very formal way of saying: nice instinct. Separating things that need room to breathe is exactly how order gets built, one small decision at a time.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

Moving a tab into its own window takes one drag, or one menu click.

  1. Click and hold a tab in your tab bar.
  2. Drag it outside the boundaries of the current browser window, then release.
  3. Alternatively, right-click the tab and choose "Move Tab to New Window" from the menu.

The tab now runs in a completely separate window, which you can resize, move to another monitor, or snap to one side of your screen independently of your main browsing window. This is the same mechanism behind picture-in-picture style workflows, keeping a reference document, a chat, or a video visible while the rest of your tabs stay grouped elsewhere. You can also drag a detached tab back into an existing window at any time to rejoin it.
