Wiki Vortex
How to unlock Wiki Vortex in Cheevos. Complete a 10-article Wikipedia loop back to origin. A supporter-tier achievement. Worth 50 XP.
The story
Partner. Ten articles. Ten links. One return. This goes on the special shelf.
The boomerang loop was three. The ouroboros was six. This is ten, and Cache does not have a clean explanation for why a loop this long is even possible. He just knows it is, because he is holding the record of it right now.
Ten clicks through Wikipedia, each one a real, considered choice about which blue link to follow, and at the end of it you land exactly back where you began. The geometry of that should not work. Ten decisions, ten branch points, and the path still folds perfectly closed. Cache has checked it three times. It checks out every time.
This achievement is part of the Cheevos supporter tier, which is fitting. A loop this precise deserves the kind of tracking that only the deeper tiers of the Stash can offer. Cache does not build these tiers to gatekeep his favorite discoveries. He builds them because verifying something this exact takes real infrastructure, and infrastructure has to come from somewhere.
Into the bag. This is the longest closed loop in the collection, and Cache is still a little amazed it exists.
The catalog entry
THE TEN-LINK VORTEX Acquired: Clicked through ten Wikipedia articles and folded back to the origin. Condition: PERFECT. The geometry is exact. Rarity: LEGENDARY. Few have completed the full cycle. Cache's Notes: Ten articles. Ten links. One return. Cache does not have a good explanation for why this is possible. He just knows it is, because he has the record right here. This goes in the special shelf.
Spoiler: how to unlock it
You need a chain of at least ten Wikipedia articles, as a supporter, that loops back to the article where you started.
- Confirm you have Cheevos supporter access, since this achievement is part of the supporter tier.
- Open a Wikipedia article and begin clicking through internal links, one article at a time, aiming for ten total.
- On the tenth article, click a link that returns you to the very first article, closing the full loop.
The trick to a ten-article loop is choosing a starting topic with a lot of natural cross-links, broad subjects like major countries, scientific disciplines, or historical periods tend to connect back to themselves through several intermediate topics. Cheevos detects the loop the same way it detects the shorter ones, by tracking your Wikipedia navigation sequence and measuring the length of any cycle that closes. Ten is the longest cycle length Cheevos currently checks for.
Where it fits in the Stash
This sits on the highest shelf in the wiki collection, past the boomerang and the ouroboros, the loop Cache is proudest to have on record. For the story of the raccoon who keeps count of every closed circle, read the story.
