The Oracle
How to unlock The Oracle in Cheevos, visit ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity for answers. Worth 10 XP.
The story
Partner. You went and asked the machine.
Cache has watched a lot of tools arrive claiming to answer everything. Search engines. Forums. Encyclopedias, both the paper kind and the collaborative kind. He archived opinions about all of them. He is now building a folder for the newest arrival: the AI assistants, the ones you type a question into and get a paragraph back.
He finds them fascinating from a preservation angle in particular. Ask the same question twice, on two different days, and you can get two different answers. The model changes. The training changes. The reply that felt definitive last month reads differently this month. Cache has started saving the differences rather than the answers themselves.
He calls the folder THE SHIFTING ORACLE. He does not know yet what it will become, a historical record of how an era of tools thought about things, maybe, or just a raccoon's odd hobby. He is comfortable with not knowing yet. Not everything in the Stash needs a finished purpose the day it arrives.
The catalog entry
AI CONSULTATION Acquired: Visited a major AI assistant site. Condition: Consulted. Answers probably received. Rarity: Common. Cache's Notes: The AI sites are new. Cache is still building his archive of them. He finds the outputs very interesting, from a preservation standpoint. The same question, asked at different times, produces different answers. Cache saves the differences. He calls this the SHIFTING ORACLE folder. He does not know yet what it will become. But it will become something.
Spoiler: how to unlock it
This one takes a single visit, no conversation required.
- Open a new tab.
- Navigate to one of the major AI assistant sites: chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, or perplexity.ai.
- Let the page load.
Cheevos checks the hostname of the page you visit against a short list of well-known AI assistant domains. Any one of the four is enough to trigger it, and you do not need to type a prompt or wait for a reply for the visit to count. These sites represent a genuinely new category of web destination: instead of retrieving existing pages like a search engine, they generate a fresh response to whatever you ask, which is why Cache treats them as their own kind of artifact.
Where it fits in the Stash
THE SHIFTING ORACLE folder grows every time a partner drops by one of these sites, and yours just added an entry. To meet the raccoon keeping track of the answers that keep changing, read the story.
