The story

Most people never scroll to the bottom of a home page. There is no reason to. The important stuff is up top: the pitch, the buttons, the thing you came for. Cache knows this. He also knows that "no reason to" has never once stopped a curious partner from doing it anyway.

You scrolled straight past all of that. Past the features. Past the screenshots. Down through the parts of the page most visitors never see, all the way to the very bottom, where the footer lives.

Cache put some things down there. Small things. The kind of details that only reward someone who goes all the way. He was not sure anyone would ever find them. He kept them there anyway, on the theory that some partners always go all the way, and those partners deserve something waiting for them.

The turn is simple and it is his favorite kind: he built a place for the thorough people, and then a thorough person actually showed up. He filed this under WENT ALL THE WAY. It is a small section. It is one of his favorites.

Cheevos listens for a scroll event that reaches the maximum scroll position on the home page specifically, meaning the content area has no more room left to scroll. This is a straightforward way to reward thorough exploration of a single page rather than tracking cumulative scroll distance across the whole web, which is what achievements like Half Mile and Doomscroller measure instead.
