The story

Partner. Eight hours. A full workday. Fewer than five tabs the entire time. Cache checked the log three times.

The count never went above four. Not once, across an entire working day of internet use. Cache has watched an enormous number of browsing sessions, and he has never seen a stretch this long stay this clean. He is not calling it impossible, because he has the record right in front of him. He is calling it something else entirely.

He has a special shelf in the Stash for records like this: items so rare that having even one example changes what he thought was possible. There is almost nothing else on that shelf. Most people, across eight full hours of work, accumulate tabs the way a desk accumulates papers: gradually, then all at once, then apologetically.

You did not. You held the line for an entire day. Cache does not fully understand how. He has decided he does not need to understand it to respect it.

This is the hardest tier of the Tab Minimalist line, and it demands a genuinely disciplined workday.

  1. Reduce your total open tab count, across every window, to below five.
  2. Maintain that discipline through every task, search, and reference you need for the next eight hours.
  3. Reach the full eight consecutive hours without the count climbing to five or above, and the achievement unlocks.

Eight hours approximates a standard workday, and holding a tab count this low for that entire stretch runs against nearly every default behavior browsers encourage: new tabs open easily with a keyboard shortcut or a middle-click, while closing them requires a separate, deliberate action every time. Cheevos tracks this by sampling your tab count continuously and verifying the streak never breaks across the full window. This is the rarest of the three Tab Minimalist tiers precisely because sustained restraint over a full day is much harder than a brief burst of it.
