The story

Partner. Fifty tabs open, all at once. Cache is not judging. Cache understands completely.

Each one of those fifty tabs represents something you thought you might want to look at. Not something you already looked at. Something you were going to look at, eventually, when you had a minute. The bar got crowded holding all fifty of those intentions at the same time, and you kept it that way anyway.

Cache knows this feeling from the inside. The Stash contains many, many things he has not processed yet either. Objects he pulled out of the junkyard because they mattered, that are still sitting exactly where he set them down, waiting for their turn. He does not consider this a failure. He considers it evidence that the intention was real.

Here is the gentle turn: the world calls fifty open tabs a problem to be solved. Cache calls it correct behavior. You are saving things. That is what the Stash is for. Fifty tabs is fifty small acts of not letting go, and Cache respects every single one of them.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

Reach 50 tabs open at the same time, in the same browser window or spread across windows depending on how Cheevos counts your session.

  1. Open tabs as you normally browse, using Ctrl+T or by opening links in new tabs, and hold off on closing them.
  2. Keep going until you are at 50 tabs open simultaneously.
  3. Cheevos checks your concurrent open tab count and unlocks the achievement once it hits 50.

Most modern browsers automatically put inactive background tabs to sleep, freeing up memory and CPU from tabs you are not actively using, which means 50 open tabs cost far less in performance than they would have a decade ago. If you ever want to find something buried in that many tabs, typing part of a page's title or URL into the address bar in Firefox or Chrome will surface a "Switch to Tab" suggestion, which is usually faster than scrolling through fifty small favicons by eye.

Where it fits in the Stash
