The story
Partner. You went shopping. Or looking. Cache does not always know the difference, and he has stopped trying to guess.
He keeps a folder labeled WINDOW SHOPPING SESSIONS, filled with visits to the big retail sites: the marketplaces, the storefronts, the endless scroll of things you could theoretically buy. He has run some numbers on it, the way Cache runs numbers on everything he finds interesting. Sessions where nothing gets purchased last, on average, twelve minutes longer than sessions that end in a checkout.
He finds this fact delightful rather than damning. It suggests looking is its own activity, separate from buying, worth doing on its own terms. Comparing options. Reading reviews you have no intention of acting on. Adding something to a cart just to see the total, then closing the tab. Cache has seen it all, logged it all, and judged none of it.
The turn, such as it is: he expected this achievement to be about commerce. It turned out to be about curiosity instead. The browsing happened either way. That is the part he cares about.
The catalog entry
ECOMMERCE VISIT Acquired: Visited a major online retailer. Condition: Browsing. Possibly purchasing. Rarity: Common. Cache's Notes: Cache has a folder labeled WINDOW SHOPPING SESSIONS. He does not judge. He simply notes that "just looking" sessions last an average of 12 minutes longer than "purchasing" sessions. He found this interesting. He thought you might too. The item is in the Stash regardless of whether you bought anything. The browsing happened. That counts.
Spoiler: how to unlock it
One visit, no purchase required.
- Open a new tab.
- Navigate to any major online retailer: an Amazon storefront (including regional ones like amazon.co.uk or amazon.de), ebay.com, etsy.com, or a shopify.com store.
- Let the page load.
Cheevos matches the hostname of the page you visit against a list of major retail and marketplace domains, including more than a dozen regional Amazon storefronts, eBay, Etsy, and Shopify. You do not need to add anything to a cart or complete a purchase; simply landing on the page is enough. This reflects how much of online retail traffic is genuinely browsing rather than buying, a pattern retailers themselves track closely under names like "bounce rate" and "session duration."
