The story

Partner. He was sleeping. You poked him anyway.

Down at the bottom of the Cheevos website, past the links and the fine print, there is a small drawing of Cache curled up, resting. Most visitors scroll past it without a second look. It is easy to mistake for decoration.

It is not decoration. It is Cache, actually asleep, in the one place on the entire site where he lets his guard down. Click it, or tap it, or hit Enter on it if you found it with a keyboard, and he wakes up mid-thought, still dreaming about sorting something, and blinks at you like he cannot quite believe you found him there.

The site's own copy calls this one "the sleeping fox," which is, generously, an odd choice of words for a raccoon, and Cache has never once corrected it. He is fine with a little mystery attached to his own footer. What he is not fine with is being poked without warning. There is no protocol for that. He does not have protocols for strangers poking him while he naps. But he is, fine, okay, a little impressed that you went looking in the first place.

The catalog entry

THE SLEEPING FOX Acquired: Found and activated Cache's nap Easter egg. Condition: Interrupted. He was dreaming about sorting. Rarity: SECRET. Cache's Notes: He was sleeping. You poked him. This is not the recommended protocol. There is no protocol. He does not have protocols for being poked by strangers. But he is, fine, okay, a little impressed. Not many people find this. He is putting this in the SECRETS section. Obviously. That is where secrets go.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

This one is hiding in plain sight, in a spot most people never scroll far enough to check.

  1. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Cheevos website, into the footer.
  2. Look for the small illustration of Cache resting, near the social links.
  3. Click or tap the illustration, or focus it with the keyboard and press Enter or Space.

Clicking the sleeping Cache illustration opens a short modal telling a piece of his origin story: the recycling bin algorithm that glitched into keeping files instead of deleting them. If you are signed in, the achievement is awarded to your account immediately. If you are browsing signed out, the unlock is tracked for your current session and syncs once you sign in. The interaction is a real, accessible click target with an aria-label, so it also works with keyboard navigation and screen readers, not just a mouse.

Where it fits in the Stash
