Mobile Scout
How to unlock Mobile Scout in Cheevos. Check your progress from a mobile browser and log some field work. Worth 10 XP.
The story
Partner. You checked in from the field. Cache logged the coordinates.
The Cheevos extension does not run on mobile yet. There is no browser extension API built for that, not the way desktop browsers support it, so Cache cannot watch your phone the way he watches your laptop. This has bothered him. He does not like blind spots.
But the Stash itself, the website, the leaderboard, your profile, all of it lives on the open web, which means it is reachable from anywhere with a browser. When you pulled out your phone and checked your standing from a bus stop, a waiting room, or bed at midnight, you proved the Stash travels even when the extension cannot.
Cache calls this scouting. A scout does not carry the whole operation. A scout checks the perimeter, confirms the numbers are still good, and reports back. That is exactly what a mobile visit is. Small. Useful. Its own kind of loyalty.
The catalog entry
MOBILE BROWSER VISIT Acquired: Accessed the Cheevos website from a mobile device. Condition: On the go. Rarity: Common. Cache's Notes: The extension is not on mobile yet. But the Stash is. You came to check your progress from the field. Cache appreciates mobile scouts. They cover territory that the desktop cannot reach. This is a legitimate contribution. It is logged. It counts.
Spoiler: how to unlock it
All you need is a phone and a browser.
- Open any mobile browser, Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android both work.
- Navigate to the Cheevos website.
- Sign in, or just load your profile page, while your browser reports a mobile user agent.
Cheevos detects the visit using the standard User-Agent string your mobile browser sends with every request, the same signal websites use to decide whether to show you a mobile-optimized layout. Nothing is installed and nothing needs to be, since the site itself is fully responsive.
Where it fits in the Stash
Scouting reports are small entries, but Cache keeps every one, because they prove the Stash is bigger than any single device. To meet the raccoon who is grateful for every check-in, wherever it comes from, read the story.
