Lonely Dino

How to unlock Lonely Dino in Cheevos, go five days without opening Chrome while the dinosaur waits alone. Worth 20 XP.

The story

Partner. Five days. You did not open Chrome once. The dinosaur ran without you.

Cache does not usually track absence. He tracks things: files, pages, sounds, objects, arrivals. Absence is harder. Absence has no shape he can hold onto the way he holds onto a Zip disk or a WAV file. But five days is long enough that even Cache noticed the gap.

Somewhere, on an offline error page nobody loaded, the little dinosaur kept running in place, ready for a jump that never came. Cache does not know if that bothers the dinosaur. He is not sure the dinosaur has feelings to bother. He chose to imagine it did anyway, because imagining it made the absence feel like something worth logging.

He does not know why you were away. A different browser. A different device. A busy five days that had nothing to do with tabs at all. He is not asking. He is just noting that you came back, and that when you did, the Chrome archive was exactly where you left it. Nothing in the Stash disappears just because nobody visited for a while.

The catalog entry

FIVE DAYS WITHOUT CHROME Acquired: Went five days without opening Chrome. Condition: Confirmed absence. The dinosaur ran alone. Rarity: Uncommon. Requires genuinely stepping away. Cache's Notes: Five days without Chrome. The dinosaur ran in circles by itself. Cache logged the absence in the Chrome section. He does not know why you were away. He is glad you came back. The Chrome archive is ready. It kept everything.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

This one unlocks from staying away, not from doing anything inside the browser.

  1. Stop opening Chrome entirely, on the device where Cheevos is tracking your activity.
  2. Let five full calendar days pass without a single Chrome session.
  3. The achievement unlocks once Cheevos confirms the five-day gap, typically the next time you open Chrome again.

Chrome's offline dinosaur game keeps running the same way whether or not anyone visits it: it is a static piece of the browser, not a live service, so it is always exactly where you left it regardless of how long you have been away. This achievement is really measuring a break in a habit rather than a browser feature, which is why it is grouped with the Chrome-specific achievements even though the unlock condition is an absence rather than an action. It rewards stepping away from a single browser entirely, whether that means switching devices, switching browsers, or just taking a break from screens for a few days.

Where it fits in the Stash

This one sits quietly in the Chrome section, a record of the days the dinosaur ran alone before you came back. For the story of the raccoon who notices even the gaps, read the story.
