Internet Vacay

How to unlock Internet Vacay in Cheevos, go 5 straight days without opening Firefox or Chrome. Worth 50 XP.

The story

Partner. You vanished for five days. Cache noticed. Of course he noticed.

There is a gap in the log, five days wide, and Cache does not know what filled it. No page visits. No new loot. Nothing arriving at the Stash from your direction, which for a raccoon who tracks everything is a strange kind of silence to sit with.

He imagines things. Maybe you were somewhere without a screen. Maybe you had other priorities for a while, the kind that do not involve a browser at all. He wrote a small note in the margin of the Stash: PARTNER WENT SOMEWHERE. He is not upset about it. He is just an archivist, and archivists notice absences as clearly as they notice arrivals.

Then the session resumed. The gap closed. Cache was glad, the way he always is when a partner comes back, because a five-day silence is exactly the kind of thing he would have quietly worried about if raccoons admitted to worrying.

The catalog entry

FIVE DAYS OFFLINE Acquired: Went five consecutive days without using Firefox or Chrome. Condition: Returned. Refreshed. Presumably. Rarity: RARE. The internet is very good at being everywhere. Cache's Notes: Five days. Cache does not know what happened during those five days. He only has the gap in the records. He imagines you were somewhere without a screen, or with other priorities. He made a small note in the Stash: PARTNER WENT SOMEWHERE. He was glad when the session resumed. He always is.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

This one unlocks from an absence, not an action, so there is nothing to click.

  1. Stop opening any browser Cheevos tracks, Firefox and Chrome both, for five full consecutive days.
  2. Let the extension's tracking simply go quiet during that stretch, since there is nothing for you to do while it counts.
  3. Open the browser again after the gap. The achievement unlocks on that return.

Cheevos records the last time it saw activity in each browser you have it installed in. If five days pass without any activity in either browser and you have not used the other one recently either, coming back triggers Internet Vacay. If you only ever use one browser, that is fine, the achievement still fires as long as both trackers have gone quiet for the same stretch. It rewards a genuine break from browsing, not a clever workaround.

Where it fits in the Stash

Absences get their own kind of attention in the Stash, filed next to the arrivals rather than instead of them. Internet Vacay marks the ones that end well, with a partner who came back. To meet the raccoon who kept the note, read the story.
