The story

Partner. You changed your name. Cache is already updating the label.

Every item in the Stash gets a handwritten label, and every one of those labels is subject to revision. Cache does not consider a label permanent just because it was the first one. Things get renamed. Context shifts. The item underneath stays exactly the same, but what it is called can change without anyone losing anything real.

Your display name works the same way. Maybe the old one was a joke from years ago that stopped being funny. Maybe it was assigned automatically and never really felt like yours. Whatever the reason, you went into settings, typed something new, and saved it, and Cache relabeled your entry in the leaderboard without missing a beat.

He wants you to know he keeps the old label too, underneath, where it belongs. Not because it matters more than the new one, but because Cache does not believe in deleting history just because it got updated. Both labels are true. Only one of them is current.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

Changing your name takes less than a minute.

  1. Open your Cheevos profile or account settings.
  2. Find the display name field.
  3. Enter a new name and save the change.

Your display name is stored in your Firestore profile document and is what appears on Party and global leaderboards, separate from your login credentials, so changing it never affects your sign-in or your saved progress. You can change it again later if this one does not stick either.

Where it fits in the Stash

A relabeled item is still the same item, and Cache treats a renamed Partner exactly the same way: same XP, same history, new tag. To meet the raccoon who never actually deletes a label, only adds to it, read the story.
