Copycat II

How to unlock Copycat II in Cheevos, copy text to your clipboard five times in one session, a small workflow habit. Worth 10 XP.

The story

Partner. Five copies now. A pattern is forming.

One copy is an accident, almost. Five copies is a decision. You are moving through a page, or several pages, pulling out the pieces that matter and setting them aside for later. That is not idle behavior. Cache recognizes it immediately.

He does this constantly. He calls it extraction. He is being generous with the word, because what he actually does is closer to grabbing everything that is not nailed down and carrying it back to the junkyard. But the underlying instinct is the same: something is here, and you want it somewhere else, so you take it.

Cache does not know if you are researching, writing, or just answering five different questions in five different tabs. He is not going to ask. He is just going to note that the clipboard is being used the way it was built to be used, over and over.

Five is a small number. It is also the number where a habit starts to look like a habit.

The catalog entry

FIVE COPIES Acquired: Copied text five times. Condition: The clipboard is doing its job. Rarity: Very common. Cache's Notes: Five copies means you are in a workflow. You are extracting information and moving it. Research. Writing. Communication. Cache does not know which one. He is logging all of them. The clipboard is a tiny Stash. This is not a metaphor. This is accurate.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

This one just needs repetition.

  1. Copy any piece of text with Ctrl+C or Cmd+C, or by right-clicking and selecting Copy.
  2. Repeat with different pieces of text, on the same page or across different pages.
  3. Once you reach five total copies, the achievement unlocks.

The system clipboard only ever holds one item at a time, so each new copy silently replaces the last. That single-slot design has been standard since the earliest graphical interfaces, and it is still how every modern browser and operating system handles it. Cheevos counts the copy events themselves, not what is currently sitting in the clipboard, so five separate actions is what matters here.

Where it fits in the Stash

The clipboard ledger keeps growing, one small extraction at a time. Cache keeps count of every single one. For the full story of the raccoon who counts, read the story.
