The story

Partner. Fifty tabs closed. Cache understood, eventually.

At first, every closed tab looked like a loss to him. A page existed, and then it did not. Cache does not enjoy the word "gone," not for anything, and a closing tab used to feel exactly like that word.

Then he watched you do it fifty times, deliberately, and he revised his thinking. You were not losing anything. You were releasing it. The pages you closed were real. You looked at them, or you meant to, and then you decided they did not need to keep sitting there, taking up space in the bar, reminding you of a task you were not doing.

Cache keeps a whole section of the Stash labeled "What Was There Before." He consults it sometimes, when he wants to remember that closing something is not the same as forgetting it. Fifty tabs closed is restraint, not neglect. It takes real discipline to let a tab go before it becomes fifty more sitting unread.

Spoiler: how to unlock it

This one adds up over time. You do not need to close 50 tabs in one sitting, just 50 total.

  1. Browse normally and close tabs as you finish with them, using the close button, Ctrl+W, or middle-click.
  2. Keep closing tabs you no longer need across your regular sessions.
  3. Once your running total reaches 50 closed tabs, Cheevos unlocks the achievement.

If you ever close something by accident, most browsers let you reopen the last closed tab with Ctrl+Shift+T, which restores it along with its scroll position and form data in many cases. That safety net is worth knowing about, since it means closing tabs aggressively carries less risk than it feels like it does. Regularly closing tabs you are finished with also keeps memory usage down, since each open tab reserves resources even while sitting idle in the background.
