Cache has sat with this one for a while before writing the entry. Ten thousand is not a session. It is not even a good year. It is a browsing lifetime, counted one tab at a time, across every window you have ever opened.

Some of those tabs you remember clearly: the one with the apartment listing, the one with the recipe, the one you kept open for three months because you swore you'd read it. Most of them you don't remember at all. They were opened, they did their job, quietly, and they closed, unremarkable and essential in exactly the way most of the internet is.

The turn: Cache expected this entry to feel like a tally. Instead it feels like a biography. Ten thousand tabs is not a number so much as it is a shape, the shape of everything you have ever needed to look up, check, compare, or read, laid end to end.

There is no shortcut here. This one is earned through years of ordinary browsing.

  1. Use your browser the way you normally do, opening tabs for searches, articles, videos, and everything else.
  2. Cheevos keeps a running lifetime total of every tab you've ever created, not just the ones open right now.
  3. Cross 10,000 cumulative tabs created, and the achievement unlocks.

This tracks tab creation over your entire history with the extension, which is different from tracking how many tabs are open at any one moment, a separate, concurrent measurement. A browser tab, from the moment Ctrl+T or a clicked link creates it, is a lightweight, disposable unit: most exist for minutes, do their job, and close. Ten thousand of them is simply the accumulated total of a browsing life lived at a normal, sustained pace over a long stretch of time.
