The story

Partner. You went back. A URL you had not opened in over a year, and you opened it again.

Cache loves this one more than almost anything in the navigation shelf. A year is long enough for a page to have changed completely, or to have stayed exactly, eerily the same. Either way, something is different, and it is not the page. It is you, standing in front of it a second time.

He keeps a folder for exactly this comparison, labeled THEN VS NOW. It is one of his best folders. Old screenshots next to new ones. Old prices next to new ones. The layout that got redesigned twice since the last time anyone from your household looked at it. Cache does not need the page to have changed to find the comparison interesting. Sometimes the most unsettling thing is a page that looks identical while an entire year of your life happened around it.

Here is the turn: most people move forward online. New tabs, new sites, new links. Almost nobody deliberately walks back to something from a year ago. Cache thinks that makes this one of the rarer, more thoughtful things a browsing history can contain.

You need to navigate to a specific URL you have not visited in at least 12 months, as a Cheevos supporter.

  1. Confirm you have Cheevos supporter access, since this achievement is part of the supporter tier.
  2. Find a URL you have not opened in over a year. Your browser's history search, or an old bookmark, is a good place to look.
  3. Navigate to that exact URL. Cheevos compares the visit against your recorded browsing history to confirm the gap.

Browsers keep a searchable local history that typically goes back weeks or months depending on your settings, but bookmarks and saved links can hold onto a URL indefinitely. Revisiting a genuinely old link is a good way to see how the web actually changes over time: broken links, redesigned layouts, or content quietly rewritten since your last visit. It is also one of the few browsing habits that works against the internet's general pull toward always looking at something new.
